Why These Laws Have Been Implemented

In September 2016, a fire spread rapidly throughout a home in Brisbane, which was fully engulfed by the time fire brigades arrived. It is understood the presence of two cars and four 45 litre gas bottles fuelled the flames.
The tight-knit community came to terms with the loss of three adults, four teenagers and four children, the youngest a three-year-old girl.
After this a coroner in Qld recommended that photoelectric alarms be made compulsory, following Australia’s deadliest house fire. Qld State Government has now made this law. Other states are yet to decide.

About IPESA Pty Ltd

We are a family run business, based in Queensland. Founded in 2017 to help make sure smoke alarms are affordable for every Australian home.
Back in 2017 when the Queensland smoke alarm legislation was introduced, there was only one compliant smoke alarm on the market and it cost just under $200 per alarm.
There had to be a better, more affordable solution. So we researched several smoke alarm manufacturers and assisted to get the AS3786:2014 compliance certification from the CSIRO for the alarms we sell.
